Alien vs Predator (2004) - Paul Anderson

Muitos esquecem-se que o filme foi editado pela Fox e não pelo Paul Anderson pq 3 semanas antes do filme sair a Fox decidiu que o filme deveria ser PG-13 e não R tal como todos os outros filmes tanto da saga Predator como da saga Alien e basicamente tiraram o filme da alçada dele e fizeram aquilo. Eu ainda começei a ver o filme e até estava a gostar, mas achei por bem deixar de ver o filme pq prefiro ver o Directors Cut quando sair eventualmente.
O Paul Anderson não é nem de longe o meu realizador favorito, apenas quero demonstrar que o rapazinho até queria fazer um filme decente, a Fox é que não o deixou.

Isso do Director´s Cut já foi desmentido. Não existe.

Paul W.S. Anderson is in the capital at the moment promoting his new film, Alien vs. Predator, and FilmFocus was granted an audience with the director (otherwise known as an 'interview') to discuss this year's biggest movie featuring Aliens and Predators. Also, bizarrely, the smallest. Being that it's the only one.

The director was quick to quash any rumours that might have been circulating regarding an R-Rated plot. He revealed there had never been an R-Rated version of the film and that the PG-13 rating was as a result of the simulated Alien and Predator gore, less harmful in the censor's eyes.

He also put down rumours of an R-Rated directors cut, but we can exclusively reveal that there will be new material on the DVD.

Anderson told us that, in his original vision of the opening, there was to be a flashback to 1904, the last time the Predators came to earth to do their business (the alien killing kind). This flashback will be restored for the DVD and it'll be the first scene in the film of Aliens and Predators battling. Anderson revealed that the ultimate decision was made to cut the pay-off from the opening, keeping the species' first encounter with one another for a later stage.

The film features Lance Henrikssen, an Alien franchise stalwart, as the billionare tycoon Charles Weyland. What you might not know, however, is that this was not to be the only part recycled from the seperate franchises.

Perhaps the juciest piece on the menu however, Anderson told us that Arnold Schwarzenegger had gone as far as to accept a role in the film, reprising the character he tackled in Predator, Dutch Schaeffer. Anderson revealed that Arnie had only two stipulations, that his role would be conditional on his losing the election for Governor in California, and that it would be filmed at his home.

The scene was to be a short cameo, involving Arnie's own helicopter. While Anderson didn't discuss details, at a guess we'd say it would have had something to do with him rescuing the survivors at the end of AvP.

Vi o filme hoje e achei-o razoável. Estive a ler um pouco deste tópico para ter uma ideia geral sobre o que pensaram e vejo que muito poucos gostaram. O dawnfrost, o insano, o avenger adorou bem... Eu vi o Resident Evil Apocalypse (REA) há uns dias e o filme foi um ZERO completo, puro excremento. Como podem imaginar, vim para este AVP à espera do mesmo, mas fui apanhado de surpresa. Este AVP consegue qualquer coisa.
É certo que a história não vale quase nada, mas a maneira como o filme foi feito está muito boa. Não sei como é que o Alquimista pode considerar o AVP pior que o REA...
O filme só começou a pegar bem para mim a partir da segunda metade. Até aí eu ainda estava a ver aquilo com olhos um pouco atravessados, a pensar nas 2 estrelas, mas quando chegou o final, já me tinha decidido pelas 3 estrelas que lhe vou dar. Paul Anderson pode não ter muito talento, mas conseguiu dar um certo tom agradável ao filme, não caindo na estupidez chunga que é o REA.

Não vejas este filme como uma sequela da saga Alien! Vê-o apenas como um projecto paralelo que é isso que ele é!

Isso mesmo, foi exactamente o que eu pensei ao ver o filme. Isto não é uma sequela nem prequela, é um spin-off. E como spin-off, está muito bom.

Hmm, esta é interessante, não sabia que era uma razão para um filme ser mau... E para já, o Alien do Ridley Scott também não tem quase diálogo nenhum na última meia hora, just running and chasing, por isso...

Peço desculpa mas dada a extensão do tópico não o vou ler; queria contudo deixar os meus two cents sobre este filme que vi hoje. Depois da infinidade de pessoas que esboçaram trejeitos de asco de cada vez que esta trabalho vinha à baila, ia preparado para o pior. Melhor assim. O velho efeito de perspectiva gorada no inverso ocorreu. Acabei por não achar aquilo assim tão mal. Claro que é um vazio de originalidade, e digo-o tanto pela busca comercial de dois icones (bom o Predator nem tanto) do cinema deste tipo, como pela aplicação dos velhos princípios do filme género "eram um grupo, foram morrendo um a um". Enfim, já tudo visto e revisto. Contudo, não posso negar que o vi sem fastio. Mas o medo maior veio já no fim, quando o espectador é ameaçado de sequela, não úma, mas duas vezes. Ou seja, quando a criatura é arrastada para o fundo sem claramente ser eliminada, e depois quando o Predator tem a bicharada na pança. "Adorei" toda a fase final, quando a gaiata se passeia pelo Pólo Sul com uma roupinha primaveril como se nada fosse. Este DVD também tem uma magia especial: o filme deveria ter 96 m e afinal tem 86 m.
