Star Trek (2009) - J.J. Abrams

A primeira versão do script já foi entregue à Paramount, o projecto está com o início da produção prevista para 2007:
Erik Jendresen on Star Trek: The Beginning
Source: TrekWeb August 26, 2005

TrekWeb reports that writer Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers) gave an update to Dreamwatch magazine about the prequel Star Trek: The Beginning. He says he has turned in the first draft of the script to Paramount Pictures.

"This would take place just a couple of years after the end of the events in 'Enterprise' but well before the original series, and it would look at the inciting incident that started everything," he said. "The story is big and epic, and it isn't as antiseptic as the television stories had to be."

Jendresen adds that "The Beginning" would also not be centered around the traditional "Star Trek" model of a captain, crew, and starship.

"We're looking at a very small group of men and women, particularly focusing on one character," he explains. "There are a couple of ships, including a principal ship, but this is not a traditional captain and crew of a starship story in the least."

Star Trek is Back with Abrams at the Helm
Posted by Scott Weinberg on Friday, Apr. 21, 2006, 12:36 AM

Scott Weinberg writes: "Wow, now here's some news we didn't see coming. J.J. Abrams, the creator of "Alias" and "Lost," as well as the director of "Mission Impossible 3," will be resurrecting the "Star Trek" franchise for Paramount Pictures. And he's bringing his "MI3" writers with him.

According to Variety, "Paramount is breathing life into its "Star Trek" franchise by setting "Mission: Impossible III" helmer J.J. Abrams to produce and direct the 11th "Trek" feature, aiming for a 2008 release.

Project, to be penned by Abrams and "MI3" scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, will center on the early days of seminal "Trek" characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer space mission."

Boas! Noticias..

Esperamos que consiga ter a mística dos Stek's anteriores.. Pode ser que o William Shatner e Leonard Nimoy e Walter Koenig dêm uma ajudinha. Para renascer a série Star Trek novamente.

Tirado da IMDB:
Abrams Slams 'Star Trek' Rumors

Mission: Impossible III director J.J. Abrams is hitting back at unauthorized reports he is directing the next Star Trek movie. The Alias creator is furious the news was released prematurely and is also upset that key details regarding the storyline were incorrectly reported. He explains to Empire online, "The whole thing was reported entirely without our cooperation. People learned that I was producing a Star Trek film, that I had an option to direct it, they hear rumors of what the thing was going to be and ran with a story that is not entirely accurate." Last week, Hollywood trade paper Variety, reported Abrams was on board and that the film would center on the early days of Captain James T. Kirk and Spock and that Philip Seymour Hoffman was in talks to play the ship's doctor. Abrams won't reveal the true storyline, but hints that it won't feature characters Captain James T. Kirk or Mr. Spock at all, but doesn't rule out bringing some of the original characters back for the new film, adding, "Those characters are so spectacular. I just think that..you know, they could live again."
