Iron Man and Tropic Thunder star Robert Downey Jr. visited "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning to promote the latter, but he was asked by Regis Philbin about Iron Man 2.

Downey Jr. would only confirm that it is happening and said he thought they would end up making a trilogy of it. He did, however, hint that he was willing to make more films beyond a trilogy!

Downey Jr. will soon start filming the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes and will then shoot Iron Man 2 for an April 30, 2010 release.

Ora bem, para quem ja viu os extras do DVD do Iron Man o vilão do proximo filme é obvio.

Muito provavelmente será, sem grande surpresa, o Mandarin.


Digo isto por duas razões:

- Durante o Making Of, durante as filmagens de uma cena que não foi incluída no filme, Tony Stark chega a casa e o Jarvis diz, claramente, que ele tem 3 mensagens de voz do Mandarim.
- Jeff Bridges, o actor que fez de Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger no filme disse durante o Making Of que inicialmente iria haver dois vilões no filme. Um principal e um mais secundário. O papel de vilão secundário seria o dele.
Mais tarde com as revisões do roteiro eliminaram um dos vilões e ele ficou como vilão principal. E é só aqui que entra o Iron Monger.

Ora bem, para quem ja viu os extras do DVD do Iron Man o vilão do proximo filme é obvio.

Muito provavelmente será, sem grande surpresa, o Mandarin.

Por acaso, pelo que tenho lido por aí na net, o próximo vilão parece que vai ser o Crimson Dynamo (é preciso ter cuidado porque já quando estavam em pré-produção do primeiro filme e mesmo no início de produção, referiam como vilão o Mandarim, mas como não conseguiram arranjar forma de tratar o personagem sem ser de forma estereótipada como na BD, colocaram o Iron Monger, mas com algumas pistas para algo maior nos bastidores). Muito subtil, tendo em conta o estado actual das relações com a Rússia...

Don Cheadle vai interpretar Rhodey na sequela, substituindo assim Terrence Howard . Será que vamos ter o War Machine?

Don Cheadle is stepping in to replace Terrence Howard in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2, says The Hollywood Reporter.

In the first film, Howard played Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man's best friend and future armor-clad hero War Machine.

The trade says Marvel had no comment, but sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons.

Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua's Brooklyn's Finest.

Justin Theroux is writing the screenplay for Iron Man 2, coming to theaters on May 7, 2010. Jon Favreau is returning as director, and Robert Downey Jr. is expected back as Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow also is expected to be back as Pepper Potts.

Se não dá para trazer de volta o Terrence Howard, é uma boa escolha. Não o imagino como Rhodes mas revela o mesmo critério que norteou a escolha do Robert Downey Jr., que incide sobretudo na escolha de bons actores para o papel. Se não fosse por isso, se fosse uma escolha apenas baseada no aspecto fisico, o Michael Jai White até seria interessante.

Bolas. O Cheadle é um óptimo actor mas odeio quando fazem um recast de uma personagem ( para uma sequela (sim até no Dark Knight). Preferia vê-lo num outro papel.

Pode ser que se trate de um mal-entendido. Durante muito tempo também foi noticiado que o vilão do 1 ia ser o Mandarim e isso acabou por nao se verificar e o próprio Favreu foi noticiado como estando fora do Iron Man 2 e agora está mais do que dentro.

o que mais me faz esperar por este filme é mesmo ver a adaptação de algumas cenas do Iron Man original como os problemas com a armadura e a consequente paralização do Tony e os seus problemas com a bebida *-*

Quanto aos vilões, para mim qualquer um está optimo HAHAHA

But there will be no next time for Howard.

Marvel had no comment, but sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons. Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest" with Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke.

Rhodes is expected to play a larger part in the sequel, which is rumored to go beyond high-tech villains. Justin Theroux is writing the screenplay.

Jon Favreau is returning as director, and Robert Downey Jr. is expected back as billionaire industrialist Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow also is expected to be back as Stark's assistant, Pepper Potts.

Cheadle, repped by UTA, most recently starred in "Traitor," a thriller on which he was also a producer. He will next be seen in DreamWorks' "Hotel for Dogs."

Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler) and Sam Rockwell (Frost/Nixon) are in talks to star as the villains in Marvel Studios' Iron Man 2, being directed by Jon Favreau from a script by Justin Theroux, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.

THR says that Rourke would play a tattooed Russian heavy named Ivan who becomes a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils. Variety adds that Rourke would play the Crimson Dynamo. "He's considered to be an evil version of Iron Man because he battles the superhero in a nuclear-powered suit of armor," says the trade.

Rockwell would play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of industrialist Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, being played by a returning Robert Downey Jr.

Rourke and Rockwell would be joining a cast that also includes the returning Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, who is replacing Terrence Howard.

Another part -- one for Stark's assistant Natasha -- is still open.

The project is eyeing a spring start in Manhattan Beach. Paramount will release the movie May 7, 2010.

Mickey Rourke não aceita cachet para «Homem de Ferro 2»

Mickey Rourke, que perdeu recentemente o Óscar para Melhor Actor para Sean Penn, afirmou que, «neste momento», não vai fazer o «Homem de Ferro 2», ao contrário do que foi anunciado no início deste ano.
De acordo com a revista New York, o protagonista de «O Lutador», pelo qual estava nomeado para a estatueta dourada, terá recusado o papel de vilão na sequela, devido ao cachet oferecido pela produção.

Segundo a publicação, teriam sido negociados 250 mil dólares para a presença do actor na longa-metragem, mas o seu agente, David Unger, estaria a negociar um valor mais alto.

After a lot of back and forth, Deadline Hollywood Daily has confirmed today that Mickey Rourke has officially signed on to play a villain in Iron Man 2:

I just heard that ICM has scored its second casting deal for Marvel's Iron Man 2. After at first being low-balled by the studio to the tune of $250K, Rourke has signed on for the role of the Russian villain in the sequel after his agent David Unger got the quote up to a "significant" level despite this punishing economic climate where the studios are taking advantage of talent. (No wonder Mickey kept thanking Unger so profusely in acceptance speeches for the BAFTA, Golden Globes, Spirit, and other awards.) But don't expect Marvel to confirm any of this: they won't until all the i's are dotted and t's crossed on the contracts. I can also tell you that Sony was considering hiring Mickey to play the villain in Spider-Man 4.

Director Jon Favreau will start shooting Iron Man 2 very soon for a May 7, 2010 release date.

UPDATE: Variety adds that Rourke will play "Whiplash, a character that includes elements from that comicbook villain and Crimson Dynamo, another Russian baddie."

First, we got confirmation that Mickey Rourke is on board to play the Russian villain in Iron Man 2, and now E! Online has confirmed with Scarlett Johansson's representative that the actress has indeed signed to play the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow.

"Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man," her rep, Marcel Pariseau, tells me.

Achei o primeiro mto fraquinho, talvez o pior do ano dos filmes baseados em BD. Bom o Spirit, tb está no mesmo nível de mediocridade.
